When Should You Winterize Your Boat in Nebraska?
The cold season is upon us and will be here before we know it. It’s time to winterize your boat!
In the Midwest, we never know when the first freeze or snowstorm might hit. We may experience 80 degree temperatures through the month of October, or we may get our first snowstorm in the first two weeks of October. Mother Nature is so unpredictable! So when should you get your boat winterized?
Some like to stop boating on Labor Day weekend, and others believe we should continue boating right up until the first freeze. It is usually best to pay close attention to the weather patterns and give yourself plenty of time to pull the boat out of water, get it winterized and cleaned up to be stored. Typically the first freeze occurs mid-October, so it is usually best to pull the boat out of the water at the beginning of October at the latest just in case.
Can You Do it Yourself?
Winterizing your boat yourself is certainly an option - here's a step-by-step process to help you do it yourself. If you're one that would rather hire someone to do it for you, that is of course always an option.
